- Street Sweeping and Debris Removal: Removing dirt, leaves, and litter to improve drainage and enhance the appearance of public spaces.
- Signage and Pavement Markings: Installing and maintaining street signs, traffic control signs, and roadway markings to improve safety and navigation.
- Drainage Maintenance: Clearing gutters, inlets, and storm drains to prevent flooding and keep streets safe during rain events.
Street conditions can change throughout the year, and our crews adjust operations to keep roads safe and accessible in every season. Here’s how we respond to seasonal needs and inclement weather:
Weather Response
During heavy rain or storms, we monitor drainage and clear debris from roadways to prevent flooding and maintain safe travel. After major weather events, crews inspect streets for damage and schedule repairs as needed.
Winter Weather
In icy or freezing conditions, crews treat priority intersections, bridges, and main thoroughfares to improve traction and reduce hazards. Residents can help by driving with caution, avoiding unnecessary travel, and reporting dangerous conditions.
Fall and Spring Cleanup
Seasonal street sweeping helps remove leaves, dirt, and debris that can clog storm drains or create safety hazards. We also inspect pavement markings, signs, and signals to ensure they remain visible and effective year-round.
Construction Season
Warm weather months are ideal for repaving, seal coating, and larger street projects. During construction season, we work to minimize disruptions by notifying residents in advance and maintaining access whenever possible.
Current Projects & Improvements
We’re committed to investing in the long-term quality of Snyder’s roads. Each year, the Streets Division prioritizes street repair and improvement projects based on condition assessments, safety considerations, and available funding. These projects may include resurfacing major streets, replacing damaged sections of roadway, or enhancing drainage infrastructure.
How Streets Are Prioritized
Street maintenance is prioritized using a combination of factors, including:
- Road condition and age
- Traffic volume and usage
- Safety concerns
- Drainage and infrastructure needs
- Coordination with utility or development projects
This data-driven approach ensures that resources are used efficiently and that the greatest needs are addressed first.
