[ARCHIVED] Historic Marker Re-Dedication

Historic Marker Re-Dedication is at 10:00 am on Satruday at the northeast corner of the square. Texas observed its centennial in 1936. The state gave each county a marker as part of the observance. The Scurry County marker was placed in a roadside park on the Lamesa Highway. When the highway department decided to do away with that park Aline Pards asked the department to move the marker to the northeast corner of the courthous square in Snyder.
The markers originally had a metal star but these proved to be so popular with vandals thay many or mowt of them were stolen. Mrs. Parks contacted the state and asked that a new star be provided for the Scurry County marker. The star has been received and will be rededicated on May 1, 2010, Saturday. Please join us for the ceremony.
