The annual fundraiser, which benefits the Scurry
County Senior Citizens’ Center, will begin at 2 p.m.
when food and craft booths open and entertainment gets
underway. The Senior Center’s activities will be set up in The Coliseum arena; but, on the perimeter a variety of health care companies will man booths offering information
and services.
The health fair booths will open at 2 p.m. and close at
6 p.m. May Day highlights include the silent auction, barbecue meal, served from 4:30-6 p.m., and the quilt auction at 6:30 p.m. with Grady Morris of Colorado City again handling auctioneer’s duties.
Meal tickets may be purchased at the Senior Center,
from senior citizens, or at The Coliseum next Saturday.
The brisket will be barbecued by the Exxon and Mobil
volunteers and the remainder of the meal will be prepared
by the Senior Center kitchen staff. The “Country Boys” take the stage twice, first from 2-3:30 p.m. and an encore performance from 4:15-6 p.m. The “Deep Creek Cloggers” perform from 3:30-4 p.m. Booths include the silent auction where individuals can bid on services or items that are donated. Record bids on the bid sheet for each item. The highest bidding individual gets to purchase the item that evening. Businesses and
individuals donate items and services to the silent auction.
Homemade craft items or snacks and drinks will be
sold at the craft and the sweet tooth booths. Sweets will
include cookies, brownies, Rice Krispie treats, candy,
trash, homemade bread, whole or half cakes.
No homemade pies will be sold. Drinks include coffee
and soft drinks.
