SNYDER, TX – The City of Snyder extends its sincere gratitude to all agencies and personnel who responded swiftly and professionally to yesterday’s chemical incident at the Snyder Water Treatment Plant.

Thanks to the rapid coordination between multiple departments and jurisdictions, the situation was contained without injury or compromise to public safety. We recognize the outstanding efforts of:

  • City of Snyder Public Works Department, Police Department, Fire Department, and Office of Emergency Management
  • Scurry County and Scurry County EMS
  • Abilene Fire Department Hazmat Team
  • Texas Division of Emergency Management
  • Texas Department of Public Safety
  • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

This response demonstrated the strength of our region’s interagency collaboration — built on years of investment in emergency preparedness, hazard mitigation planning, and joint training exercises. Because of these proactive efforts, responding teams were able to act quickly, communicate clearly, and ensure the safety of our community.

“We are incredibly proud of the teamwork displayed today,” said City Manager Eli Torres. “This was a unified response that showed exactly what it means to be prepared, professional, and community-focused.”

The City of Snyder remains committed to emergency preparedness, transparency, and protecting public health. We encourage residents to continue following official communication channels for the latest updates.
