Service Area
The Snyder Fire Department (SFD) provides fire protection and emergency response across 900 square miles through an inter-local agreement between the City of Snyder and Scurry County. Our mission is to protect lives, property, and the community with professionalism, dedication, and rapid response.
SFD is the only 24-hour fire department in the region, operating from our central fire station at 1911 27th Street, Snyder. This facility is staffed 24/7/365 by career firefighters and serves as the primary dispatch and response hub, ensuring rapid and effective emergency services across the coverage area.
Firefighting operations are carried out by a combination of career and volunteer personnel, utilizing a fleet of modern fire apparatus to respond effectively to emergencies.
SFD collaborates with neighboring counties, responding to large-scale incidents through a mutual aid network. Our department provides assistance three times more often than it receives, reinforcing our commitment to regional safety and emergency preparedness.
